This past weekend, Amarillo College, Panhandle PBS, and FM90 hosted The 8th Annual Chalk It Up Sidewalk Chalk Festival at Amarillo College's Oeschger Family Mall.

Thirty participants took on the task of creating chalk art inside an eight-foot square. Only chalk/pastels in solid form could be used for the work. No acrylic paints, liquid pastels, or fixatives allowed. However, use of water, sponges, etc. was permitted, and a total of $900 in cash prizes was awarded.

Here is a rundown of the winners:

First Place: Abigail Key ("alien cats in space")
Second Place: Alison Price ("stone statue with butterflies and flowers")
Third Place: Mallory Prucha ("growth and expansion")
Fan Favorite: Madeliene Rodriguez (flowers, stars, and characters)
