A new school year will be starting in a few weeks and it can be a stressful time for young kids. Which is why it’s helpful to see several new episodes of PBS Kids programming premiering in August.
On Monday, August 10th, two new back-to-school episodes of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood will be premiering on PBS Kids.
The new episode "Daniel Asks Before Touching Someone Else/Jodi Asks Before Touching Someone" introduces preschoolers to a brand-new strategy song: "Before you touch someone, ask if it's okay."
When they're at the playground, Daniel and Prince Wednesday learn to ask permission before touching someone else. And when Jodi wants to touch Miss Elaina's hair, she learns it's important to ask first.
Another new episode focuses on the importance of developing routines which can help the day feel less stressful and scary.
In "Daniel's Morning Routine with Grandpere/Miss Elaina Gets Ready for Bed," Daniel is excited to go to the pool for his swim lesson, but first, Grandpere helps him with his morning routine. And families can join Miss Elaina for her bedtime routine, which includes donning her bonnet as well as a special lullaby.
There will also be a new episode of Donkey Hodie premiering on Monday, August 17th.
"Donkey’s Eye Exam/The Music Marathon," is a fun and nostalgic "nod" to the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood episode, where the iconic TV host visits the eye doctor to help kids understand and get ready for their own experience.
In this episode, when Donkey doesn’t know what to expect at her first eye exam, Panda helps her prepare so she’s less afraid. And when Donkey isn’t sure she can finish the Music Marathon, can she find a way to boost her confidence and keep going?
